The Top Rowing Schools In Ireland
Ireland is the third largest island in Europe and ranks 23rd all over the world. As the name island
suggests, the country is surrounded by large bodies of water where rowing became a popular sport.
In fact, there are a lot of rowing competitions all throughout the entire year for the Irish to compete
against other neighbouring countries. Among the many teams involve in the rowing competitions, a
selecting body is responsible for deciding its possible members. This selecting body is the Rowland
Ireland High Performance Team which was founded in 1899. They are responsible in the selection
process of members of the junior and senior teams that will join in the FISA championships and the
Olympics.Didn’t catch that? This explains it.
Rowing competitions in Ireland does not only involve events administered by the FISA and rowing
competitions in the Olympics. As a matter of fact, a yearly rowing competition is held under men and
women categories. There are two divisions under each category which comprises of the juniors (under
18) and the seniors. This annual competition is called Home International Regatta where 5 different
countries participate including Ireland. The other four countries are The British Isles- England, Scotland
and Wales. Last year, the Senior Men Division was won by England, the Senior Women and the Junior
Women Division won by Ireland and the Junior Men Division won by Wales.
